Recipe: Hot Cross Buns

DSC08356-1

Happy Easter all! Of course I was going to post a Hot Cross Bun recipe. I found a great recipe by the bread baking king, Mr Paul Hollywood, on the BBC Good Food website. I’ve made some modifications (sorry Paul!) based on my taste preferences and what I had on hand and I think they’re just scrumdiddlyumptious! Continue reading

Ginger Syrup Pudding

DSC07783-

I was recently given the Great British Puddings recipe book as a gift. It’s full of lots of pudding recipes including old favourites as well as some more traditional forgotten recipes. It has a good mix of pies, puddings, cakes and other dessert recipes. There are also a good picture to recipe ration, which is always nice to see. Continue reading

Numbered 25th Chocolate Birthday Cake

Hello all!

I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Years. I know it feels like such a long time ago, but I hope you’re feeling well rested. The cake I am going to share with you this week was made for a birthday last month, but as it was done so close to Christmas that I just hadn’t gotten round to blogging it yet.

It was for a lady turning 25. The brief was simply – CHOCOLATE, and lots of it. Continue reading

Recipe: Spiced Pear Cobbler

DSC07514-1

Peach cobbler just sounds like the ultimate, most delicious, stereotypical American dessert. I always remember hearing it mentioned on American TV shows and promised myself that one day I would make sure that I tried some of this cobbler for myself. Well now I’m older and I know how to bake, so I decided to make it myself rather than travel across the pond in search of a restaurant that makes this beautiful dessert. Continue reading

Gift Box Cake

Hello!!! I haven’t blogged any cakes in a while, so I’m going to be doing a few posts today to bring everyone up to speed with that I’ve been up to. Sidebar – have you noticed it’s snowing on my blog? :-)

This first cake was for a family friend’s little girl who turned 3 years old a few weeks ago. I made this cake in the style of a wrapped gift box and used red as the “ribbon” as this was Isis’ favourite colour. Continue reading

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Last week Tues I turned the big 25!! *queue the half way to 50 jokes* …I really wanted to write something deep & meaningful about passing this milestone in my life….BUT I’m drawing a blank lol. So I’ll just say, that I’ve had a fabulous birthday & that I’m very grateful to the friends & family that celebrated with me last Tues & over the weekend. I had such an amazing time! Musical Note Cake

Last weekend, London town had some faboulous weather, and so for my dad and sister’s joint birthday party, we had a family BBQ. Naturally, I was in charge of bringing the cakes. My sister had already decided months ago that she wanted her cake to look like a musical note, so I had a chance to be organised and take my time doing this cake. Continue reading

Jubilee Scones (recipe)

I have a running joke with a friend from the States, that all us Brits do is sit around having tea and crumpets (which is obviously not true). This post however, is very stereotypically British. Seeing as it’s the Queen’s Jubilee and all, I think it’s allowed. Continue reading

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Hola amigos! (That’s about all the Spanish I know)

It’s Cinco de Mayo (spanish for 5th of May) which is a Mexican holiday celebrated in Mexico (obviously) and the United States.

As I will use practically any excuse to do some baking, I thought it made sense to try something with a bit of latin flavour. Continue reading
